(Sept. 21, 2010) - The prep golf regular season has already wrapped up and all 12 Loudoun high school will play in their respective district tournament this week starting today with the 9-team Dulles District tournament at the 1757 Club.
Loudoun County, unbeaten in duals and district min-tournaments, has already clinched a regional bid and is the overwhelming favorite today. The real drama will be which individuals qualify for regionals (the top six not on the Raiders and next highest scoring team will qualify) and which team will join the Raiders in the Region II tournament which will be played this year at South Riding.
On the individual side, defending champion Brantley Kushner of Loudoun County has been battling a shoulder injury and will need to hold off some strong challenges from his own team to retain the title.
The action continues Wednesday with the Cedar Run District tournament at Loudoun Valley Golf and Country Club, hosted by regular-season champion Loudoun Valley. Heritage will compete in this 4-team tournament. And Stone Bridge starts in the two-day Liberty District tournament at Herndon Centennial.
